This is my FAQ page with some answers to the more frequently asked questions by clients. Let me know if you have any questions not addressed here.

Do you have a minimum order amount?

Yes, it is $500. That can be a combination of cake and cupcakes.

Do you offer cake tastings?

Yes, I offer a cake tasting/consultation to sample a selection of my cake flavors and fillings. Tasting consultations are held on Sunday afternoons and cost $40, To book a tasting appointment, please click here. Tasting consultations are ideally designed for 2 people, but I will accommodate up to 4 at no additional charge.

When should we book our order with you?

Wedding cakes are typically ordered around 8 - 10 months in advance. That allows ample time for consultation, tasting, and design. Early is always better as peak wedding season is April - October and dates book up quickly as I limit the number of orders per week to ensure you get the best work I can offer.

How do we book an order with you?

To secure your date I require a signed contract and a 50% non-refundable retainer at the time of consultation. Final payment is due 4 weeks before the event. If your event is less than 4 weeks away or under $500 then full payment is required to secure your date.

Where are you located?

I bake and decorate all cakes and cupcakes in Charlotte, MI. I do not have a storefront that you can visit.

How much do your cakes cost?

Many factors are involved in determining the cost of a custom cake from Designed by Daddy Custom Cakery. Every cake is made to order and priced individually. Cake pricing incorporates many variables including number of servings, complexity of design, fillings and flavors, number of tiers, delivery and set-up. The industry standard is to offer a starting price per serving for cakes. While my starting price is $7.00 per serving, that can be misleading and should only be used for comparing to other starting prices. Custom cakes are typically $10-15 per person and an average wedding cake is around $1,200.

Do you deliver and how much does it cost?

Yes. Delivery within 35 miles of Charlotte is a flat rate of $75. Venues over 35 miles away will be assessed an additional charge that is quoted during the consultation.

What forms of payment do you accept?

All major credit cards, cash, money orders and certified checks. Most of our payments are done via our online invoicing system.

Is a deposit required to place an order? 

Yes. A non-refundable 50% retainer is required to book your order. The balance must be paid 4 weeks before the event. If your event is less than 4 weeks from the booking date the total balance is due to book your order.

Why is the retainer non-refundable? 

Since I book out approximately 8 months ahead, there would be no way for me to go back and get all of the customers I said no to once I accepted your retainer to backfill your spot if you decide to cancel your order. Your retainer ensures availability FOR YOU and I manage my entire production schedule based on your order once you book it.

What should we bring to our cake tasting consultation?

During our meeting, we will work together on a custom cake design that is just for you. Please bring anything you would like to use as inspiration or want incorporated into the overall design. Things to think about are your invitations, color swatches, bouquets, centerpieces, overall theme or even your wedding dress (but just a picture of it).

What is your Diversity and Inclusion statement?

Designed by Daddy Custom Cakery is available for ALL wedding celebrations. But, I WILL NOT accept clients who request cakes that serve to promote hate, discrimination or the marginalization of any group or community.

Are there any cakes you won’t make?

Yes. I won’t make a cake that promotes hate or discrimination, drugs, explicit language, or x-rated body parts.
